They Killed a Horse. Tell me again, how this is fun to watch?Eight Belles, the first filly in many years, Placed in the 2008 Kentucky Derby. Immediately crossing the finish, the filly then collapsed with two broken ankles and was euthanized on the spot.
Besides the obvious objections of whipping horses, racing fillies against colts, racing American thoroughbreds too young and pushing the animals to succeed in lieu of injuries (cause let's face it, that horse was probably hurt before the finish line and she kept going), all this aside...
This was the worst sporting event I have ever watched.
(Of course, I did miss the now infamous Holyfield-Tyson earbiting event because it was my 21-run)
Sorry to those who watch the Derby as a time honored tradition, but no julep or dressing like a douchebag is worth watching a horse go down.
